Yealink CP960 (Discontinued) – Call Transfer (Attended/Semi-Attended/Blind/BLF)

For CP960 replacements please refer to the user guides for the Yealink CP925/965.

Types of Call Transfer

While the CP930 phone is intended for call conferencing, you can also use it to receive and transfer calls.

You can transfer a call on the Yealink CP960 in three ways:

  • Blind Transfer: Transfer a call directly to another party without consulting.

  • Semi-Attended Transfer: Transfer a call when the target phone is ringing.

  • Attended Transfer: Transfer a call with prior consulting.

All three ways can be performed using either the transfer option or a DSS/BLF key.

Another transfer method, using a Telebroad system dial code, allows you to transfer a call directly to a voicemail of your choice.

Transferring Calls with the Transfer Option

An active call can be transferred to a number, a local contact, a number from a  call history record, or a contact from a remote phone book.

To transfer a call:

  • Tap More>Transfer during a call.

  • Do one of the following:

    • Enter the number you want to transfer the call to and tap Transfer.
    • Tap   and select a contact from the local directory.

    • Tap   and > Remote Phone Book to switch a directory.

Select the contact on the remote directory.

    • Tap   and select the desired Call History entry.
  • For a blind transfer – select Transfer when prompted with the dialog box.

The call will automatically dial out in about 5 seconds if you do not select Transfer, resulting in an attended/semi-attended transfer.

  • For an attended/semi-attended transfer  select Send when prompted with the dialog box.

Select Transfer when receiving a ringback to complete a semi-attended transfer.

After the party answers the call, select Transfer to complete an attended transfer.

Transferring Calls with a DSS/BLF Key

DSS ( Direct Station Selection) is a type of soft key on your phone that can be programmed to perform a certain function. In our case, we can configure a DSS key to transfer a call to a specific contact so you do not need to enter or select any phone number.

The type of DSS key we will configure is BLF (Busy Lamp Field). BLF is a line key with a visual indication of the availability of the user associated with the line. If the icon on the BLF key is  , the line is free. If it is any other red or grey icon, it means the line is busy or not registered and the user may not accept your call transfer.

To transfer a call with a BLF key:

  • During a call, select More>Dsskey and tap the BLF key of the monitored user to which you want to transfer the call.

  • If you configured the transfer mode for Blind Transfer the call will immediately get transferred.

  • If you configured the transfer mode for Attended Transfer wait for the monitored user to answer and see if he wishes to accept the call. Tap the BLF key again to complete the transfer.

  • If you configured the transfer mode for Select Transfer you will get the option to select the transfer method or, instead, to place a new call to the user on the BLF key.

Transfer Mode Configuration

You can configure or change the transfer mode on the web user interface.

  • Access the web user interface as described here.

  • Navigate to Features>Transfer.

  • Select the desired transfer mode from the Transfer Mode via Dsskey pull-down list Blind Transfer or Attended Transfer.

Alternatively, select Select Transfer to have the option to choose how to transfer the call after pressing the BLF or DSS key.

If you select New Call the BLF key will dial the user instead of transferring a call to him.
