Cordless SIP phones offer the convenience of being able to step away from your desk. They are useful for users who prefer to use a handset over a wireless headset or who need a wider wireless reception range.
Cordless phones are also known as DECT phones. DECT stands for Digital Enhanced Cordless Technology – a technology for a wireless connection between the handset and a base station. The base station provides the handset with connectivity to the SIP network and can handle multiple accounts and handsets.
The talk range between handsets and the base station can be extended with a repeater or with a multi-cell configuration. The latter requires a DECT manager unit. Repeaters and additional base stations can also circumvent thick walls and other obstructions to help with indoor reception issues.
When setting up cordless phones, in most cases you would want a separate phone number for each handset, but there is also an option to share numbers among several handsets/users.
The following phones are offered as a bundle (handset and a base station). If you are just interested in adding a handset to an existing/different base station you can just buy the listed handset separately.
