The Wi-Fi function of the Yealink T43U allows you to enjoy SIP connectivity without network cables. This reduces clutter, lets you easily move the phone around, or serves when a network port is unavailable or in offices with a Wi-Fi only network.

Note that the phone is POE compatible. Meaning it can receive power from the Ethernet cable that provides the network connectivity. If you are not using an Ethernet cable you will need to use the power supply that came with your phone.

To use Wi-Fi on your T43U phone you need to purchase the Yealink WF40 or WF50 Wi-Fi USB dongle and plug it in one of the two available USB ports on the back of the phone. If you are using an extension module it is recommended you connect the Wi-Fi dongle to the upper USB port.

All the following Wi-Fi options can also be configured via the web user interface by selecting the Network tab on the top and Wi-Fi from the side panel.

Activating/Deactivating Wi-Fi and Scanning for Networks

When the WF40/50 Wi-Fi dongle is plugged in one of the USB ports, the phone prompts you to scan for wireless networks. Press the OK soft key to activate Wi-Fi mode and scan for Wi-Fi devices automatically.

If you cancel the automatic scanning or have turned off Wi-Fi you can activate it manually:

Select Menu from the idle screen and navigate to Settings>Basic Settings>Wi-Fi.
Press or to select On from the Wi-Fi field.
Press the Save soft key.

The phone scans the available wireless networks in your area.

If you want to deactivate Wi-Fi follow the same steps but simply select Off from the Wi-Fi field.

Available vs Known Networks

Once Wi-Fi is activated two new options will appear and you should note the distinction between them:

X Available Network(s) (X is the number of available networks) are networks found in reception range from the phone that it can establish a connection with
Known Network(s) is a list of up to five networks the phone has already connected with that you can switch between or manage.

Connecting to a Wireless Network

When you connect to a Wi-Fi network in the Available Networks list, its profile is saved in the Known Networks list. The phone will automatically connect to this network, or the one with the highest priority on the list, the next time Wi-Fi is enabled.

You can also connect to wireless networks manually in one of three ways: manual connection, Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS), and manually adding a wireless network.

To manually connect to a wireless network:

Select Menu from the idle screen and navigate to Settings>Basic Settings>Wi-Fi.
Press or to highlight X Available Network(s) (X is the number of available networks) and press the Enter soft key.
If there are no available wireless networks, press the Scan soft key to search for networks and then select X Available Network(s).
Press or to select the desired wireless network.
Press the Connect soft key.
If the network is secured, enter its password in the Password field and press the OK soft key.

For information about the password of the wireless network, please contact your system admin.
If the connection is successful appears after the name of the wireless network.

Also, the name of the network appears next to the Wi-Fi status field on the Wi-Fi menu and the Wi-Fi status is displayed as "Connected" on the idle screen.

If you want to disconnect from any network simply follow the same steps to select it and press the Disconnect soft key.

Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)

Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) provides a simplified mechanism to configure secured wireless networks.

Keep in mind that when WPS is activated it exposes your router to uninvited connections and is considered less secure than other Wi-Fi authentication protocols. It is advised you disable WPS on your router when it is not being used.

Two methods are supported for Wi-Fi protected setup:

Push Button Configuration (PBC): The user has to enable WPS on the phone and the wireless router.
Personal Identification Number (PIN): The user has to enter a PIN generated randomly by the phone on the wireless router.

To connect to a wireless network using the PBC method:

Select Menu from the idle screen and navigate to Settings>Basic Settings>Wi-Fi.
Press the WPS soft key and select WPS.
The screen prompts “WPS has been activated, connect in 120s!”.
Push the WPS button on your wireless router. Most routers have a dedicated button for this, but for others you may need to long-press another button.
If the connection is successful appears after the name of the wireless network.

To connect to a wireless network using the PIN method:

Select Menu from the idle screen and navigate to Settings>Basic Settings>Wi-Fi.
Press the WPS soft key, and select WPS-PIN.

The screen prompts “Please input below PIN code on your Wi-Fi router and press OK to connect: xxx” (xxx represents the PIN code you have to enter.)
Log into your wireless router’s web interface, configure it to search WPS clients, and enter the PIN code generated by the phone in the relevant field.

You will generally find these options under the Wireless or WPS tab or section of the web interface, but this may vary by brand or model. For more information please refer to the documentation of your wireless router.
Press the OK soft key on the phone to start the connection process. This may take 2-3 minutes.

The router's web interface will prompt you with a success message once the connection is established.

Manually Adding a Wireless Network

If the SSID broadcast option of your wireless router is disabled, the router's Wi-Fi network might not appear in the phone's scanning results.

In that case, you need to either enable SSID broadcast or manually add a wireless network.

To manually add a wireless network:

Select Menu from the idle screen and navigate to Settings>Basic Settings>Wi-Fi.
Press or to highlight Known Network(s) and press the Add soft key.
Use the WLAN (Wi-Fi) settings obtained from your wireless router to configure the new network profile on the phone.
- If your router has security enabled, select the same security type in the Security Mode pull-down list – WEP, WPA, WPS2-PSK, or 802.1x EAP.
  
  If the router's security is not enabled select None.
- If security is enabled, enter the relevant Password (on your router it may appear as Security Key, passphrase, or pre-shared key.)
- If you are using the 802.1x EAP mode, select the desired EAP method and enter the relevant values in the corresponding fields.
- Enter the Profile Name (name appearing in the Known Networks list) and SSID (actual network name from the router) in the corresponding fields.
Press the Save soft key to accept the changes or the Back soft key to cancel.
The connected wireless network will be saved to the Known Network(s). The list can store up to 5 wireless networks, each with its own customizable connection priority (see Managing Networks below.)

Viewing Wireless Network Information

To view wireless network information do one of the following:

Select Menu from the idle screen and navigate to Settings>Basic Settings>Wi-Fi.

Press or to highlight X Available Network(s) (X is the number of available networks) and press the Enter soft key.

Highlight the desired wireless network.

Press the Detail soft key to view the wireless network information (e.g., Profile Name, SSID or Signal Strength).
If the phone is already connected to a wireless network, you can also press navigate to Settings>Basic Settings>Wi-Fi>Wi-Fi Status to view its details.

Managing Networks

Once the phone has been connected to a wireless network successfully, the network profile will be saved in the Known Network(s) list. The list can hold up to five profiles. If you want to add a new profile when the list is full you need to delete the oldest profile first.

The next time you enable Wi-Fi, the phone will automatically connect to the wireless network which has the highest priority. You can manually select a different network from the Known Network(s) list or connect to a new network as described above.

To manage known network(s):

Select Menu from the idle screen and navigate to Settings>Basic Settings>Wi-Fi>Known Network(s).
Press the Option soft key and do one of the following:
- Select Edit to edit the desired profile fields and select Save.
- Select Move Up or Move Down to change the priority of the wireless network. The priority determines what network the phone will automatically connect to.
- Select Delete or Delete All to delete the saved wireless network profile(s).
If you delete a wireless network profile you need to manually connect to it the next time you want to use it.
