Conference Call

 You can create a conference call on the W52P phone using either a local conference function or a network conference function. The later lets you exceed the phone's three participants limit. 


A Network conference URL needs to be setup in advance using the web user interface. Speak to your phone system administrator about this and about using a network conference if the local conference is not sufficient for you.


Local Conference


You can create a conference with two other parties by dialing them or you can create a conference between an active call and a call on hold.


To set up a local conference call by dialing the other parties via the handset:


  • Place a call to the first party.

  • Press the Options soft key, and then select Conference.

  • Do one of the following:

    • Enter the number of the second party or select the handset you want to add to the conference.

    • Press   , , , or the Conf. soft key to dial out.

    • Press the Directory soft key and then select the desired contact.

    • Press   , , , or the Call soft key.

  • If both the office number and the mobile number of the contact are stored, select the desired number and then press   , , , or the OK soft key to dial out.

  • When the second party answers the call, you can consult with him or her before adding the call to the conference.

  • Press the Conf. soft key again to join the two calls in the conference.

To join two calls in a conference via the handset:


  • Place two calls on the handset.

  • Select the desired call and make sure the call is active.

  • Press the Options soft key, and then select Conference.

  • Two calls are joined in the conference.

  • To drop the conference call press    or the End soft key.

Network Conference


If your system administrator has set a network conference feature on your phone, you can initiate a conference with multiple parties.


After the conference is in progress, any party can invite another party into the conference call, place himself/herself on hold, or end his/her participation in the conference.


To set up a network conference call via the handset:


  • Place a call to the first party.

  • Press the Options soft key, and then select Conference.

  • Do one of the following:

    • Enter the number of the second party or select the handset you want to add to the conference.

      Press , , , or the Conf. soft key to dial out.

    • Press the Directory soft key, and then select the desired contact.

      Press , , , or the Conf. soft key to dial out.

      If both the office number and the mobile number of the contact are stored, select the desired number and then press , , , or the OK soft key to dial out.
       
  •  When the second party answers the call, you can consult with him or her before adding the call to the conference.

  • Press the Conf. soft key again to add the new party to the conference.

  • Repeat the previous four steps until you add all intended parties.

To invite another party into an active conference call via the handset:


  • (This is available to any party in the conference.)

  • Press the New Call soft key.

  • Enter the desired number using the keypad.

  • Press  , , or   to dial out.

  • When the new party answers the call, press the Options soft key, and then select Conference.

  • The new party is joined to the conference call.

To place the active conference call on hold via the handset:

  • Any party in the conference call can press the Options soft key, and then select Hold.

  • The party will only place himself/herself on hold. Other parties can continue the conference call normally.

  • The conference call will only be held when all parties in the conference call place themselves on hold.

To end the conference call on the IP phone via the handset:

  • If you are the conference initiator you can press    or the End soft key. This will end the conference for all participants.

  • If any other party in the conference ends the call, the remaining parties stay connected.
