Poly VVX 601 – Parking and Retrieving a Call

Before call parking can be used on your phone, some system extensions need to be assigned as parking slots. This is handled by an administrator in the Admin Center as explained here.

Usage

You can use call parking to place a call on hold, and then retrieve it from another office location.

Call parking is also useful when a call has to be transferred to a user who is not at his desk. A receptionist can accept the call, park it, and use the office overhead paging system to inform the user about the extension where the call is waiting for him. The user can then use any nearby phone to retrieve it.

If a parked call is not retrieved within a certain period it will be returned to the phone line that parked it.

Parking a Call

  • From the Calls view, press the More>Park soft keys.

  • The call is placed on hold.

  • Depending on your system configuration:

    • In the Extension: field, enter the number for a valid parking slot extension. A list of such extensions can be obtained from your phone system administrator.

Press the Enter soft key. A prompt will inform you that the call has been parked on your selected extension.

    • The system will place the call in a shared parking lot and provide you with a retrieval code (the number of the parking slot). Essentially, the system automatically picks an available parking slot extension and parks your call there.

Retrieving a Parked Call

You can retrieve a call from any phone on the system, including the phone you originally parked the call from.

To retrieve a call do one of the following:

  • Press the More>Retrieve soft keys.

In the Extension: field, enter the parking slot extension you used for parking the call and press the Enter soft key.

  • When the phone is idle, enter the parking slot extension and press Dial.

The phone will connect to the extension and retrieve the call.
