Transforming a Deskphone to a Dect Base Station

The W59R DECT handset can be used with Yealink SIP-T5 series phones (T53 and T53W, T54W, 57W, 58, T59) for a convenient cordless calling experience.

The Yealink DD10K DECT USB dongle (bought separately) enables a SIP-T5 phone to act as a base station for the W59R and facilitates the DECT functionality. The dongle enables a phone to be registered with up to 4 compatible Yealink handsets.

DD10K Setup, Firmware, and Status

Insert the DD10K into the USB port on the back of the phone. 

If the firmware versions of the DD10K and IP phone do not match, the IP phone will initiate a firmware upgrade on the DD10K. You may also need to first upgrade the firmware on your phone if its firmware is too old to support DECT functionality. Refer to the relevant firmware upgrade guides for your phone here.

Checking the Dongle's Status 

You can check the dongle's status from the phone's settings screen –

• On touch screen phones you will find the Settings option by swiping left or right to go to the second idle screen.
  
  On phones with a regular screen you can select Menu from the idle screen and navigate to Settings.
  
  
•  Navigate to Settings>Status>Dongle.

Activating Registration Mode on the Deskphone

Before you can register a handset you need to make sure the phone is in registration mode.

To activate registration mode on a T5 series phone:

• Plug the DD10K into the USB port of the phone.
  
  
• Open the phone's settings screen –
  
  On touch screen phones you will find the Settings option by swiping left or right to go to the second idle screen.
  
  On phones with a regular screen you can select Menu from the idle screen and navigate to Settings.
  
  
• Navigate to DECT Settings>Handsets and tap/select Register.

Base Station PIN

When you register a handset to the deskphone you will need to provide a base station PIN. The default PIN is 0000 but you can change it.

To change the base station PIN:

• Open the phone's settings screen –
  
  On touch screen phones you will find the Settings option by swiping left or right to go to the second idle screen.
  
  On phones with a regular screen you can select Menu from the idle screen and navigate to Settings.
  
  
• Navigate to DECT Settings>Change Base PIN.
  
  
• Enter the new PIN and select OK.

Handset Registration

You can register up to other four handsets to one deskphone.

To register a handset with a deskphone:

• Make sure registration mode is activated on the phone.
  
  
• When the handset prompts “Unregistered!”, do one of the following:
  
  
  • Press the Reg softkey for easy registration.
    
    
  • Press the OK softkey and select Register Handset.
    
    
  • Press    and select Settings>Registration>Register Handset.
    
    
• The handset begins searching for the deskphone.
  
  
• Press the OK softkey once the deskphone is found.
  
  
• Enter the registration base station PIN for the deskphobne (default PIN is 0000), and press the OK softkey to complete the registration.
  
  
• You can now receive and make phone calls on the handset.
