Poly Trio – Intercom Calls

While Poly Trio telephones are intended for call conferencing, you can also use your phone to make and receive intercom calls.

How Intercom Calls Work?

An intercom call differs from a normal call in that the recipient’s phone answers automatically when not in an active call. This is useful for relaying a quick message to a contact.

If the recipient has an active call, he can choose to answer the intercom call. Otherwise, the intercom call will be answered automatically once the active call ends.

When you receive an intercom call, it will also be answered automatically if you are not on an active call. Your phone may be configured to answer an intercom call with your microphone muted. If this is the case you need to unmute your microphone before responding to the call.

Placing Intercom Calls

When placing an intercom call  you have to enter a number or select a contact, but your system administrator can set up your phone to automatically make an intercom call to a specific contact.

You can place an intercom call when the phone is idle or during an active call.

To place an intercom call when the phone is idle:

  • Select Intercom.

  • If a specific contact is configured your phone will automatically dial it.

  • Otherwise, enter a number or select a contact and select   (Dial).

The phone plays a tone and dials the contact’s phone which will answer the call automatically.
  • After delivering your message select   (Hang Up) to end the intercom call .

To place an Intercom call during an active call:

  • During an active call select Hold>Intercom.

  • The active call is placed on hold.

  • Enter a number or select a contact and select   (Dial).

The phone plays a tone and dials the contact’s phone which will answer the call automatically.

  • After delivering your message select   (Hang Up) to end the intercom call .

  • Select   (Resume) to return to the active call.
