Using Poly Trio with a Mobile Device
The Bluetooth feature enables you to use your Poly Trio as a speakerphone for the audio of calls and media from a paired mobile device.
Trio phones can remember up to 10 previously paired devices but will not automatically reconnect to a previously paired Bluetooth device after a system reboot. You need to manually select and pair the Bluetooth device.
Activating Bluetooth and Making Your Phone Discoverable
Before you connect a Bluetooth device to your Poly Trio phone, you need to make sure that either the Poly Trio or the mobile device is visible (discoverable) to nearby devices. This also applies if you’re connecting a Bluetooth device to a Trio 8800 system via NFC (see details below.)
To activate Bluetooth and make your Trio C60/8800 visible:
- On the Home screen, select Bluetooth ().
- Activate Bluetooth by toggling the Bluetooth switch on.
- If the Bluetooth status of your phone appears as Only visible to paired devices tap the name of your phone (RealPresence Trio 8800 in the example shown here.) This will change the status of your phone to Visible to all nearby Bluetooth devices making it discoverable.
To activate Bluetooth and make your Trio 8300 discoverable:
- On the Home screen, press (Home key) to access the main menu.
- Navigate to Settings>Basic>Bluetooth Settings
- If Bluetooth is off select Bluetooth and select On to activate Bluetooth.
Press (Back key) to return to the Bluetooth Settings screen. - Select Discoverable and select On
Connecting to a Bluetooth Device
You can pair a mobile device from your Trio phone or from the mobile device itself. Note that you can’t connect to a Bluetooth device while you are already on a call on the Trio phone.
To connect to a mobile device using Bluetooth:
- Activate Bluetooth on your mobile device.
- Do one of the following:
- On your mobile device, select the Trio Phone on the list of available Bluetooth connections.
- Make your mobile device discoverable. On some devices this is automatic while on others this will be valid for a limited time – usually two minutes.
Select the mobile device in the list of available devices on your Trio phone.
- On your mobile device, select the Trio Phone on the list of available Bluetooth connections.
- If prompted, confirm the Bluetooth pairing request.
- The Bluetooth icon () is displayed in the status bar.
To unpair the device select it on the (Trio 8300) or tap next to its name(Trio C60/8800), and select Unpair
Connecting a Bluetooth Device Using NFC (Trio 8800)
The Trio 8800 supports an NFC function (Near Field Communication (NFC) for a quick Bluetooth connection.
To connect Bluetooth device to your Trio 8800 using NFC:
- Enable NFC on your mobile device.
- Tap and hold your device for two seconds above the NFC symbol on the Trio 8800.
Directing Calls/Media Audio Output to Your Poly Trio Phone
After pairing a mobile device to your Poly Trio phone audio for media and phone calls should be automatically get routed from the mobile device to the speakers of the Trio phone.
If this is not happening automatically you can control this routing manually by changing the audio output. This is also useful when you want to route the audio back to the mobile device.
If the following instructions are not working check if your mobile device has a screen mirroring or casting feature enabled as this may direct the audio to another destination.
Android Devices
From Android 11 and up, routing media audio can be easily done from the relevant notification for the audio (an audio or video player) by tapping the icon in the notification. This may need to be first enabled in Developer Options.
If this is not available or to route phone calls, you need to manually configure routing from the Bluetooth settings.
To direct audio output with the Bluetooth settings:
- You can access the Bluetooth settings by holding the Bluetooth icon in the Quick Settings (accessed by swiping down from the top of the screen.)
- Select the Poly Trio phone from the list of Bluetooth devices.
- Toggle on the Phone calls and Media audio options.
To route audio back to the mobile device simply toggle off the same switches.
iOS Devices
Directing the output of media audio and calls audio is handled separately on iOS.
To direct phone calls audio to the paired Poly Trio phone:
- Go to the iOS settings () and navigate to Accessibility>Touch >Call Audio Routing.
- Select Bluetooth as the audio destination.
To direct media audio to the paired Poly Trio phone:
- Start playing your media on your iOS device.
- Do one of the following:
- Open the Control Center by swiping down from the top-right corner of your screen.
Select the audio controls widget in the upper-right corner of the Control Center.
Tap (Airplay Audio) and choose the paired Poly Trio phone. - On the lock screen of your iOS device, tap (Airplay Audio) in the top-right corner of the relevant media player box and choose the paired Poly Trio phone.
- Open the Control Center by swiping down from the top-right corner of your screen.
