How to Configure Call Parking Extensions?

Call Parking Usage

Call Parking is a feature for transferring calls to a virtual extension that functions as a system-wide "parking area". You can then retrieve the call from any internal line. Basically, it allows you to transfer calls to yourself by temporarily parking them.

It is also a useful feature when a call has to be transferred to a user who is not at his desk or when a user is already busy on a call and you don't want an important call to end up in his mailbox.

Call parking works from the TeleConsole app or physical phones with a Telebroad account.

Call Parking Configuration

To configure call parking you have to create two kinds of extensions. One is a Parking slot (a virtual extension) where calls are parked and the other is a Park call function that transfers calls to an available parking slot.

To learn more about extensions see this article.

Parking Slot Extension

Select ADD EXTENSION, enter the Extension number, and for the Destination Type select Parking slot (found under Predefined features), and click CREATE

You can create as many parking slots as needed. When a user parks a call, the system will park it in the lowest-numbered available parking slot.

Park Call Extension

Add another extension and select Park call as the Destination Type

For the extension number, use a regular number without the * or # symbols, otherwise when users try to transfer to this extension they will get an invalid number error.

Parking Timeout

To avoid having calls forgotten in parking slots and to free up parking slots, the phone system has a global parking timeout setting ranging from 1-60 minutes. When a call is unclaimed for the defined timeout duration it is returned back to the user who parked it.

The default timeout value is five minutes. To change it go to Account>Settings>Account Settings.

Parking and Retrieving Calls

When dialing the Park call extension, the system will tell a user the extension number of the parking slot where the call has been parked. The user can then hang up. While the call is parked, the caller will hear the default system holding music.

Retrieving the call from another line is as simple as dialing the number of parking slot.
