Yealink SIP-T46U Parking and Retrieving Calls

Before call parking can be used on your phone, some system extensions need to be assigned as parking slots. This is handled by an administrator in the Admin Center as explained here.

Call Parking Usage

You can use call parking to place a call on hold, and then retrieve it from another office location.

Call parking is also useful when a call has to be transferred to a user who is not at his desk. A receptionist can accept the call, park it, and use the office overhead paging system to inform the user about the extension where the call is waiting for him. The user can then use any nearby phone to retrieve it.

If a parked call is not retrieved within a certain time period it will be returned to the phone line that parked it.

Parking Modes

The phone supports two call parking modes which are configured via the web user interface:

FAC mode  parks the call to your local extension or a desired parking slot extension. For the latter, you would need to ask your phone system administrator for a list of parking slot extensions.

Transfer mode  parks the call to a shared parking lot using the blind transfer function. You do not need to know the parking slot extension numbers since the system automatically picks an available parking slot and parks your call there.

FAC Mode Parking

Configuration

FAC mode parking is configured via the web user interface.

To configure the call park feature in FAC mode:

  • Access the web user interface as explained here.

  • Go to Features>Call Pickup.

  • Select FAC from the Call Park Mode pull-down list.

  • Select Enabled from the Call Park pull-down list.

This will make a Park soft key appear on the screen during a call and the Retrieve soft key when the phone is idle.

  • Enter the call park code in the Call Park Code field.

(Ask your phone system administrator for this code which is an extension that routes calls to an available parking slot.)

  • A park retrieval code is not required. Calls are retrieved by dialing the relevant parking slot extension.

  • Click Confirm to accept the change.

If the Park or Retrieve soft keys don’t appear on your phone's screen, navigate to Settings->Softkey Layout in the web user interface and select Disabled from the Custom Softkey pull-down list.
