Yealink T58A Wi-Fi Network Connection and Wireless Access Point


The Wi-Fi function of the Yealink T58A allows you to enjoy SIP connectivity without network cables. This reduces clutter, lets you easily move the phone around, or serves when a network port is unavailable or in offices with a Wi-Fi only network.


Note that the phone is POE compatible. Meaning it can receive power from the Ethernet cable that provides the network connectivity. If you are not using an Ethernet cable you will need to use the power supply that came with your phone.


  All the following Wi-Fi options can also be configured via the web user interface by selecting the Network tab on the top and Wi-Fi from the side panel.


Activating/Deactivating Wi-Fi and Scanning for Networks


To activate Wi-Fi:


  • Do one of the following:

    • Swipe left/right to go to the second idle, tap Settings  (  ), and navigate to Basic Settings>Wi-Fi. Toggle on Wi-Fi.

    • Swipe down from the top to show the Quick Settings menu and tap the Wi-Fi button. 

  • You cannot have Wi-Fi and Wireless Access Point running at the same time. If you have a Wireless Access Point active (see below), select OK when prompted to turn it off.

The phone scans for available wireless networks in your area and the Wi-Fi icon ( ) appears on the status bar.

If you want to deactivate Wi-Fi follow the same steps but simply toggle off Wi-Fi in the Wi-Fi settings or tap it off in the Quick Settings menu.  


Connecting to a Wireless Network


When Wi-Fi is enabled, the phone will automatically connect to a previously connected network within range with the best reception (if any.) 

You can also connect to wireless networks manually in three ways: manual connection, Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS), and manually adding a wireless network.


To manually connect to a wireless network:


  • Swipe left/right to go to the second idle screen or swipe down to enter the control center and tap Settings  (  ).

    Navigate to Basic Settings>Wi-Fi.

  • If there are no available wireless networks or if you don't see your desired wireless network try selecting >Scan.

  • Tap the desired wireless network and to connect to it.

  • If the network is secured, enter its password in the Password field and select Connect.

    You can tap to make the password visible as you type it.

  • If the connection is successful the prompt "Connected" appears next to the name of the network and the active wi-fi network icon on the status bar (  ) will reflect the connected network signal strength with 1-4 bars.

If you want to disconnect from any network simply navigate again to Basic Settings>Wi-Fi, tap the desired network, and select Forget.


Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)


Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) provides a simplified mechanism to configure secured wireless networks.

  Keep in mind that when WPS is activated it exposes your router to uninvited connections and is considered less secure than other Wi-Fi authentication protocols. It is advised you disable WPS on your router when it is not being used.


Two methods are supported for Wi-Fi protected setup:


  1. Push Button Configuration (PBC): The user has to enable WPS on the phone and the wireless router.

  2. Personal Identification Number (PIN): The user has to enter a PIN generated randomly by the phone on the wireless router.

To connect to a wireless network using the PBC method:


  • Swipe left/right to go to the second idle screen or swipe down to enter the control center and tap Settings  (  ) .

    Navigate to Basic Settings>Wi-Fi.

  • Tap   >WPS.

    The connection will be available for 2 minutes.

  • Push the WPS button on your wireless router. Most routers have a dedicated button for this, but for others you may need to long-press another button.

  • If the connection is successful the prompt "Connected" appears next to the name of the network and the active wi-fi network icon on the status bar (  ) will reflect the connected network signal strength with 1-4 bars.

To connect to a wireless network using the PIN method:


  • Swipe left/right to go to the second idle screen or swipe down to enter the control center and tap Settings  (  ).

    Navigate to Basic Settings>Wi-Fi.

  • Tap >WPS-PIN.

    The screen prompts “Please input below PIN code on your Wi-Fi router and press OK to connect: xxx” (xxx represents the PIN code you have to enter.)

  • Log into your wireless router’s web interface, configure it to search WPS clients, and enter the PIN code generated by the phone in the relevant field.

    You will generally find these options under the Wireless or WPS tab or section of the web interface, but this may vary by brand or model. For more information please refer to the documentation of your wireless router.

  • Tap OK on the phone to start the connection process. This may take 2-3 minutes.

    The router's web interface will prompt you with a success message once the connection is established. 

Manually Adding a Wireless Network


If the SSID broadcast option of your wireless router is disabled, the router's Wi-Fi network might not appear in the phone's scanning results.


In that case, you need to either enable SSID broadcast or manually add a wireless network.


To manually add a wireless network:


  • Swipe left/right to go to the second idle screen or swipe down to enter the control center and tap Settings  (  ).

  • navigate to Basic Settings>Wi-Fi.

  • Tap >Add.

  • Enter the WLAN (Wi-Fi) settings obtained from your wireless router in the Network SSID field. 

    • If your router has security enabled, select the same security type in the Security field – WEP, WPA, WPS2-PSK, or 802.1x EAP

      If the router's security is not enabled select None.

      If you are using the 802.1x EAP mode, select the desired value in EAP method and enter the relevant values in the corresponding fields.

    • If security is enabled, enter the relevant Password (on your router it may appear as Security Key, passphrase, or pre-shared key.)

      You can tap to make the password visible as you type it.

  • Select Save.

Viewing Wireless Network Information


You can view the details of available networks or the ones you are already connected to.

To view wireless network information:


  • Swipe left/right to go to the second idle screen or swipe down to enter the control center and tap Settings  (  ).

  • Navigate to Basic Settings>Wi-Fi Status to view the network details.

Wireless Access Point


The Yealink T58A has a wireless hotspot feature that allows it to share its wired network connection with other devices using a Wi-Fi Connection.


While this feature is activated, the phone can only connect to a wired connection. To connect the phone to a Wi-Fi network the Wireless Access Point needs to be switched off. 


Enabling and Configuring the Wireless Access Point


  • Swipe left/right to go to the second idle screen or swipe down to enter the control center and tap Settings  (  ).

    Navigate to Basic Settings>Wi-Fi AP.

  • Activate the Wireless Access Point by toggling on Wi-Fi AP.

    If you already have Wi-Fi activated, you will be prompted to turn it off.

  • Configure the access point by taping AP Configure. 

    Enter the name of the access point in the AP Name field.

    Select the desired security mode of the access point from the AP Security Mode field and enter a security password in the AP Password field if applicable

    Select the desired frequency and channel of the access point in the respective fields (you can read more about wireless frequencies here.)

  • Select   .

To disable the access point simply repeat the first two steps and toggle off Wi-Fi AP.


Viewing and Blocking Devices Connected to the Access Point


You can block devices connected to the access point to prevent unauthorized use.


  • Swipe left/right to go to the second idle screen or swipe down to enter the control center and tap Settings  (  ).

     and navigate to Basic Settings>Wi-Fi AP.

  • Tap AP Client List to display the names and MAC addresses of all the devices connected to your access point.

  • Select   after the desired device and tap OK when prompted to move it to the Blocklist.

    The device will be blocked and will not be able to connect to the access point.

  • To allow a device back on the access point you need to remove it from the Blocklist.

    Go back to the Wi-Fi AP screen and tap AP Blocklist. Select    after the desired device and tap OK when prompted to remove it from the Blocklist.
